Assignment 1

So today was the day of the shooting! I was super nervous, being a cameraman and all that. Really am not accustomed to holding a camera.

But anyway, Gary's group went first, meaning that Jake and Betty had to go and act for them. I was just standing around on set, observing what was happening on set.

Then it was our turn. When it's hands-on, things are so different. I managed to hold the camera properly, and able to contribute to the team. Feels good to be part of this.

Overall, I think our group did a pretty good job. Jem did a nice job as the mixer. It wasn't too bad. actually. And of course we have to thank Gary and Apple(who stood in for Jing Yuan).

One thing I didn't quite like was the amount of time it took to set up. I think that we should split the work better and delegate our tasks properly so that we each know what to do. Perhaps for our next assignment, we could do that.

I heard our next assignment has to do with buses. Double huh.

Back to school... Not?

So I just spent 3 hours travelling back and forth to school for class. And class did not even happen! Oh my gosh. Seriously. I just went there to have a sandwich and take my pills. Huh.

I really thought there would be class.

This goes to prove that communication is really lacking a lot these days. And it's not only their fault, it's mine too. Hopefully tomorrow, we will communicate so that things will go smoothly!

Down.

Yes, I've been sick and I missed today's class.

And considering how I'm an idiot at lighting, I'm an even bigger idiot by having to miss class this morning. I totally missed out on a good lesson. *smacks self*

Day 4

Today is a day like any other. I am still sick.

Well, we're still settling on the idea for our Assignment 1. We've discussed so far about how we want the set-up to be like, Camera angles, along with props and also the dressing for the interviewer and interviewee.

I think our interview will be pretty funny because we're getting Gary to act as a rocker for us. Jing Yuan will be our interviewer. We planned out a funny script, having Gary as an illusional filmmaker that really can't get a grip.

Props wise, we'll be using the chairs from the Designers' Loft. We have to borrow a wig from one of the graduates, borrow Betty's Dad's jewelry and also make a fake movie poster.

Anyway, tomorrow a guest speaker is coming to class. I hope what he teaches benefits us!

Tangle me in wires and leave me to die.

I need to get more comfortable with the cameras, wires and stuff. Like, seriously. I am so terrified of hooking things up. I know it's bad for me as a video student to not like being around the abundant equipment and machines that will be on set in future. So I guess I'll have to try to absorb more.

Jac basically went through how to hook things up to each other. Like from the camera to the mixer, the communicating devices thingies and the microphones. Wires galore. I would hate to be a mixer. I don't know if I could handle it. I'm more of a meticulous person that can only work when given clear directions. But if I were to be a mixer, without anyone telling me what to do, I would be so afraid to screw up that I would eventually end in screwing up.

I'm still quite confused by the assignment. But we've got it sorted out... I think? We have to discuss more with Gary's group. Apparently, two of them has to act for us, and two of us has to act for them for an interview.

It's been quite difficult to coordinate our timings nowadays because for some reason, lots of people have been falling sick, and I'm one of them. What's more, Jem is in a different P2 class from Jake, Betty and I. Thus, it might be a bit difficult to get all 4 of us to meet at the same time.

Yeah... Huh?

So it's Day 2! DUN DUN DUN!

Okay. One thing. I AM HORRIBLE WITH MACHINES.

The very scary monstruous mixer was brought in today and... I have no words to say. Just scared because I always get confused with the wires and how to make things work. I'm a real technology bodoh.

Jac just showed us how to jump from one camera footage to another. It seems easy enough, but reflecting back to how my church does it, with about 5 active cameras on scene, I'm totally boggled. It's still pretty nifty, though I don't think I'll ever have to apply any of this in future.

Day 1

Okay, so today was a pretty alright day. Before class started, I was thinking like, "S**t man, we have to have a short film by the end of this block, along with P3!" But of course it was nothing like that.

Today started out funny, actually. For the first time, I finally understand our lecturers' frustrations when students are late. And to think some people in class could still complain. Alright, I'm not going to comment on that or I'll go into a BF.

Today, we have been enlightened! We actually found out about how VidPro2 works. Previously, the seniors had to produce a sort of short film and stuff. But for our batch, the main focus became Multi-Camera.

Now, coming from a church that does live-feed on a weekly basis, and being a video student, I'm embarrassed to say that I know nuts about all this.

But all the same, it's pretty refreshing to be able to learn something new, rather than have to do another short film(which will, by the way, kill us all).

Oh, and we'll have to work in groups for the rest of the block. I've been grouped with my awesomeness friends, Jake, Jem and Betty! And it seems that we have to work with another group for Assignment 1. I don't know. I'm kinda confuddled. I really don't know how this is going to work out. Had a peek at Assignment 2 and I was all question-marks.

So, I really don't know anything about our future assignments. And seeing as to how this works out, blogging makes up 70% of our grades. So, step on it Mal!
